The study motivation app that pays you to show up.

Motivation runs out; reward loops don't. StudySalary pays virtual salary for every focus session, then stacks streaks, weekly bonuses, promotions, and badges on top — so the habit reinforces itself, one payday at a time.

Why the reward loop keeps you going

🏆

Instant payoff

A payday stamp and a salary bump land the moment you finish a session — the small, immediate win that makes you want to come back tomorrow.

🔥

Streaks that forgive

Daily streaks build momentum. Banked streak-freezes mean one missed day won't undo weeks of effort. Five study days in a week earns a weekly bonus.

📈

Long-term progress

Earn promotions to higher salary ranks, invest your earnings, and watch net worth and Study City climb. Effort compounds into something you can see.

Motivation is a feeling. A reward loop is a system.

Watching a motivation video works once. A reward loop works every time you use it, because the signal is structural rather than emotional. You don't need to feel motivated — you just need to clock in. The payday, the streak preservation, the rank progression all follow from that one action.

Unlike habit trackers that just mark a checkbox, or to-do apps that track completion, StudySalary tracks duration, compounds earnings, and shows you an economy built from your hours.

Who it's for

Built for the days you don't feel like it.

The hardest part of studying is starting. A tiny payday, a streak you don't want to break, and a goal a few sessions away give you a reason to begin — even on low-motivation days.

Questions about staying motivated

How does StudySalary keep me motivated to study?
It turns effort into visible reward. Every completed session pays virtual salary, a payday stamp celebrates it, and your earnings build toward streaks, promotions, and a growing city. The loop makes showing up feel worth it today — not just at the end of the semester.
What if I miss a day — does my streak reset?
Not necessarily. You bank one streak-freeze per ISO week (capped at two). Freezes are consumed automatically when you miss a day and come back — if you have enough to cover the gap, your streak survives. It's a designed forgiveness mechanic so one bad day doesn't wipe weeks of momentum.
What are streaks and the weekly bonus?
Studying on consecutive days builds a streak. Reach five distinct study days in a single week and you earn a weekly bonus worth roughly an hour of pay — a reward for consistency, not just intensity. The streak counter and weekly progress are visible on the Dashboard.
What are salary ranks and promotions?
In Career Mode you start as a Student Worker ($25/hr) and earn promotions — Junior Analyst, Analyst, Senior Analyst, and beyond — as your Study City grows. Your hourly pay rises with your rank, so months of steady effort literally pay more. Custom Rate mode lets you skip the ladder and set your own fixed rate instead.
Are there achievements to unlock?
Yes — badges unlock at study milestones. Part-Time Scholar unlocks at 3 sessions in a day; Full-Time Scholar at 5; Consistent Earner at a 7-day streak. Each badge also adds a salary multiplier that stacks on top of your base rate. Badges are visible on the Badges page and in your activity feed.
Does gamification actually make studying more effective?
Research on immediate feedback and reward loops suggests that visible progress and small, timely rewards can improve task persistence. StudySalary doesn't replace intrinsic motivation — it provides a bridge to it on the days when intrinsic motivation isn't enough to get started.
How is this different from a habit tracker or to-do app?
Habit trackers track that you studied. StudySalary tracks how long you actually studied, pays you for it, lets you invest the earnings, and shows you a compounding city built from those hours. It's less of a checklist and more of an economy — effort has measurable, accumulating consequences.
Is there a risk of spending more time on the app than studying?
The design is intentional about this. There's nothing to tap or engage with between sessions — no feed, no collection mechanic, no social loop. The payday animation lasts a few seconds. Then you're back at the timer. All the rewards are earned by finishing a real session.
