- Is the study room free, and do I need an account?
- It's free, and you can join the public Open Study Hall as a guest — no account, no email, no card. Sign in only if you want to create a private room for friends or sync progress across devices. The core room and timer are never behind a paywall.
- Do I have to turn on my camera or microphone?
- No. There's no webcam, no mic, and no video call. You study alongside others through presence alone — their companion and a coarse focus status. It's the accountability of body doubling without the pressure or awkwardness of being on camera.
- Is it private? What can other people see?
- Others only ever see your companion, a display name you choose, and your status (focusing / break / idle). Your email is never shown, and nothing about your salary, tasks, or streak is shared. You pick the name; you can change it any time.
- How do I study together with my own friends?
- Sign in and create a private room — you get a short code to share. Anyone with the code joins your room and you study side by side, just the two (or ten) of you. Private rooms work exactly like the public hall, but it's only the people you invited.
